Marc Barasch

Marc Ian Barasch is the founder and director of the Green World Campaign, a nonprofit that has worked to restore the ecology and economy of poor communities living on degraded land in six countries through tree planting, eco-agriculture, small-scale technology, and sustainable economic development. He was a member of the U.N. Advisory Committee for the Year of Forests 2011. A book author, magazine editor, TV producer, and media activist, his Emmy-winning TV special on the first U.N. Earth Summit was broadcast by Ted Turner to 2 billion people in 160 countries. He served as a founding producer of “E-Town,” an environmentally themed variety show on National Public Radio. Barasch’s book, Field Notes on the Compassionate Life, was the basis for a recent theatrical documentary.
