Pat Badani

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and based in Chicago, Pat Badani is an internationally recognized artist who specializes in interdisciplinary artistic creation and new media practice. Also active as a critical researcher, educator, editor and curator, she is recipient of over twenty grants and awards. Her work has been the subject of numerous critical essays in museum catalogs; anthologies; and journals of artistic research, science and new technologies. She has exhibited her work, participated in conferences and published in North and South America,
Europe and Asia. Additionally, she has performed numerous interventions in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, France, and the USA - outside institutionalized art venues - creating “communicational spaces” in public sites for several of her socially engaged projects that call for participation from the public at large. Badani’s praxis is concept- and context-driven and
involves artistic production, research and writing around such topics as inhabitation, transculturality, human migration, and sustainable living. Since 1999, her work engages experimental new media in net-artworks, responsive screen-based installations involving motion sensors and interaction design, as well as Augmented Reality experiences in public
space using Android and iOS mobile devices. She is director, main researcher and producer of the project-in-progress “Al-GRANO,” focusing on biodiversity issues in Mexico and supported by the “Robert Heinecken Trust Fund.”
